The name ‘kulula’ is Zulu for ‘it is light’ or ‘it is easy/simple’. Kulala operates a buy-on-board snacks, meals, and refreshments programme. You are at liberty to pre-book a meal and special meal requests will be entertained. Securing your seat on-board can be completed up to 24 hours prior to your flight leaving.

Checked-in Baggage Allowances

Passengers are each allowed one ‘free’ checked-in bag, which should not exceed the following dimensions and weights:

  •           Maximum weight: 20kg
  •           Dimensions maximum: 90 x 75 x 43cm (35.5 x 29.5 x 16 inches)

Any baggage ‘excess’ will carry a heavy baggage fee of R250 for each bag.

(If you need to purchase extra baggage allowance for individual bags, you can do so at the airport for R350 per bag.)

Bags may not be combined or wrapped together, irrespective they are within the weight restrictions.

Extra baggage allowance can be purchased either online or at the airport.

Infants (under the age of 2 years old) are offered a ‘free’ checked-in bag which should not exceed 20kg, plus a single collapsible pushchair as well as a child seat. No additional baggage may be purchased.

Children (between the ages of 2 and 12 years old) are offered one ‘free’ checked-in bag which should not exceed 20kg, plus a single collapsible pushchair as well as a child seat. Extra bags however may be purchased.

 Kulula airlines check-in desks open 90 minutes prior to the flight departing, and close 30 minutes before departure.
